The Railway Museum

The railway museum was opened in 2007 by JR East.
The museum has 6 zones and the “History Zone" occupies about half of the entire space and is one of the main exhibits of this museum. 36 carriages including a steam locomotive and a Shinkansen are exhibited One of the largest model railway dioramas in Japan can be found at ‘the entrance zone’ and also offers an exciting experience in an operation simulator.

Access: Take the New Shuttle from JR Omiya Station to Tetsudo-Hakubutsukan Station with a 1 min walk to the museum.
Opening hours: 10.00~18.00 (last entry at 17.30)
Closed: Tuesdays and New Year
