Gokayama

Gokayama is a small mountain village famous for its thatched roofed Gassho-zukuri houses. Gassho zukuri houses resemble palms placed together in prayer and are said to have been designed to make it easy to shed snow, owing to its steep roofs. Gokayama is not very accessible and is thus less crowded compared to Shirakawago.
