Wanko soba noodle

Wanko Soba (buckwheat) noodles, as the local favourite dish, were created almost four centuries ago in Hanamaki. The manner in which the dish is served is unique and makes for an “all-you-can-eat” noodle experience. A serving of soba noodles is repeatedly added into your bowl until you decide the portion is sufficient. You indicate this by putting the lid back on before the next portion of soba noodles is added. In Morioka and Hanamaki there are a number of restaurants where you can sample wanko soba.
